I guess I am the last person who write about Architecture in Helsinki show on June 11th :*) Last year they were here with Clap Your Hands Say Yeah but somehow I missed them (still wonder why???). The show is okay in overall, however it made me feel regret that I missed the show last year since something has been changed.

The opener was the local band here, Mahjongg which is quite impressive. They reminds me of Battles but still need a development. Their music still a kind of experimental which contain multi-directional style in each track. It’s yet to be unique but pretty close though. Their execution on the stage showed a lot of energy and it’s fun to hear it live.

After a while, it’s time for Architecture in Helsinki to begin the show. They began with eight members before two of them left on 2006. The remain six members are going to release the new album, Place Like This, on August 7 this year. And you may notice something new with their first single, Heart it Races.

As this show is intended to support the new album, load of new songs were played along with their old stuffs. What surprised me is the way they play. Err.. it’s noisy and chaotic. I believe there’s no need to play with that much of energy which made me feel like overkill.

Furthermore, their new songs are pretty different from their past album and at that point I’m not actually like them. It turned out that I was waiting for the song I like instead of enjoying through the set. Well, at least their old stuffs are still enjoy to listen. Screaming “It’s five” with the crowd was so much fun. However I expected more than that.

The crowd seems to be enjoying the show, and few people dance like the last day of their life. Then I wonder if it’s only me who feel this way.

Am I too old? No, folks, I’m just 65…
